Residential Remodeling Project: Clinton St, Hoboken NJ
Five star accommodations for two, developed by Hoboken architect, Derk Garlick. A couple with broad interests in photography, design and travel sought out a NJ architect who could develop a luxurious transformative design that would showcase their collection of published photographs and art. The existing space was a banal white box that offered little storage and a disturbing array of soffitted ceiling mounted ductwork for the purpose of heating and cooling. Working within the constraints of the original floor plan Derk Garlick Architects, LLC was able to reimagine the form of the existing ductwork and shape it into a series of linear light coves that cast warm indirect light throughout the apartment. Curvaceous hand-painted graphics over a series of modern frameless doors accent the master bedroom entry.
